Our client is InSearch for a highly skilled Data Domain/Avamar/VMware Engineer with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance to support critical infrastructure operations at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Dell Data Domain, Dell Avamar, and VMware virtualization, along with solid experience in enterprise storage and networking environments. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-availability data management and virtualization services that support mission-critical systems.
Compensation: $70-$95 hourly based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and optimize Data Domain and Avamar backup and recovery infrastructure
- Implement, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including provisioning, patching, and performance optimization
- Support enterprise storage platforms including NetApp and Nutanix
- Perform network troubleshooting and configuration tasks on Cisco networking equipment in a secure DoD environment
- Ensure data protection compliance with security policies, STIGs, and DoD standards
- Diagnose and resolve backup failures, storage issues, and virtualization performance challenges
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, server admins, and network operations
- Provide timely support for tickets, service requests, and on-site operational needs
Required Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (must be fully adjudicated)
- 5+ years of experience in data protection, storage, and virtualization technologies
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Dell Data Domain & Avamar
- VMware vSphere
Working knowledge of
- Cisco networking (switching/routing)
- NetApp storage environments
- Nutanix HCI platforms
- Experience in secure DoD or Federal environments with applicable compliance requirements
- Ability to work fully onsite at Fort Knox and support mission-critical operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as: Dell Data Protection (DCA – Avamar, Data Domain)
- VMware (VCP), Cisco (CCNA or higher), NetApp or Nutanix technical certifications
- Knowledge of backup performance tuning, deduplication methods, and storage best practices
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise change management
