Our client is InSearch of a hands-on PowerFlex & VMware Virtualization Engineer to support a mission-critical production environment at Fort Belvoir. This role blends enterprise VMware administration with Dell EMC PowerFlex operations—owning platform stability, performance, lifecycle activities, and troubleshooting in a secure DoD setting.
Compensation: $70-$95 hourly based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter (clusters, HA/DRS, vMotion, templates, resource management).
- Support Dell EMC PowerFlex operations: cluster health, provisioning, monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Execute patching/upgrades and lifecycle activities for VMware/PowerFlex components under change control.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, storage, virtualization, and connectivity layers; coordinate escalation as needed.
- Monitor environment health and performance; recommend reliability and scaling improvements.
- Maintain documentation: SOPs, runbooks, diagrams, configuration baselines, and change records.
- Collaborate with network, security, and app teams to ensure end-to-end service stability and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance (current and verifiable).
- 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure with strong VMware experience.
- Hands-on/Expert experience with Dell EMC PowerFlex (VxFlex) in production.
- Strong troubleshooting and operational discipline (incident/problem/change management).
- Ability to work on-site in a secure facility and follow strict procedures.
