Our client in InSearch of a VMware Cloud Foundation (vCF) Engineer to support a secure, mission-focused environment in Maryland. This role is hands-on with vSphere, ESXi, and vCF, supporting platform operations, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements to the virtualization stack. This is a 15-month contract opportunity.
Compensation: $70-$95 hourly based on experience
Responsibilities
- Administer and support VMware vSphere / ESXi environments in a high-availability, security-driven setting.
- Operate and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation (vCF) components and workflows (day-to-day operations, health checks, upgrades, and lifecycle activities).
- Provision and manage virtual infrastructure resources (clusters, hosts, datastores, resource pools, VM lifecycle).
- Monitor performance and capacity; identify issues and implement remediation to maintain SLA/uptime.
- Troubleshoot complex virtualization incidents across compute, storage, and virtual networking dependencies.
- Participate in patching, upgrade planning, change control, and maintenance windows.
- Create and maintain technical documentation: runbooks, SOPs, knowledge base articles, and architecture notes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, security, storage, application owners) to support operations and projects.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FS Poly) (required to start)
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi administration in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience supporting VMware Cloud Foundation (vCF)
- Experience with lifecycle operations (patching, upgrades, configuration management, and change control)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort operating in mission-critical environments
- Ability to produce clear documentation and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders
